Many folks flirt with Hip Hop like it’s a trend.
A season.
A style to try on before they outgrow it.
But every now and then, someone doesn’t just pick up the culture—they become it. They live it. Bleed it. Build a life around its principles, not for performance, but for purpose.
Quic De La Selva Rojas, known to many as King Quic, is one of those rare and spiritually chosen few.
From Survival to Sovereignty
Raised in the South Bronx, Hip Hop’s birthplace, Quic didn’t stumble into the culture. He was birthed in it.
He didn’t just break for sport—he broke through barriers. He didn’t just dance—he disciplined himself. He didn’t just perform—he prophesied.
Over the years, Quic transcended the typical arc. From neophyte to adept. From apprentice to architect. From mover to movement builder.
And like any great architect, he laid a foundation rooted in rhythm, community, and conviction.
Warrior’s Spirit, Healer’s Heart
When I first met Quic, I saw his fire. But fire needs direction—or it burns everything in its path.
He was young. Passionate. Fierce. And honestly? We didn’t hit it off right away. I craved understanding. He craved impact. But even then, I saw it. That thing—that unrelenting energy rooted in something bigger.
Eventually, I watched him rise. Not just as a dancer. Not just as a Zulu. But as a leader.
He didn’t chase a spotlight. He built one—and made sure others could shine too.
When I stepped aside, I passed the Zulu Nation torch in Atlanta to Quic—not just because of his skill, but because of his integrity. Because he moved with legacy in mind. Because he led with family at the center of everything.
Funk, Family & Forward Motion
From that foundation, Quic created two transformative bodies of work:
- FunkLordz — a cultural family that lives, teaches, and preserves the native languages of street dance.
- Toma Fit — a wellness and movement brand led with his wife, Shebah Saturn, combining creative movement, yoga, calisthenics, and spiritual practice to heal and build community.
They don’t just teach kids to dance.
They teach them to discipline their emotions.
To trust their bodies.
To know their history.
To move with divine purpose.
Together, they’ve traveled the world—not selling a product, but sowing legacy. Building bridges between art and activism, fitness and faith, culture and community.
A Legacy That Listens, Leads & Loves
Here’s the truth about King Quic:
He doesn’t lead for ego.
He leads from essence.
He doesn’t just talk unity—he walks it, teaches it, and protects it.
He’s the type of teacher that connects dots for you you didn’t even know were related. The kind of soul that reminds you this culture wasn’t built on clout—it was built on code. And the code was community.
Tap in. Learn something. Feel everything.
This week, we honor not just the art—but the artist who uses it to transform lives.
